About 15 years ago, my fourteen-year-old nephew L. Marshall, and I would visit poor neighborhoods near the Ajegunle area, distributing biscuits to anyone that would care to receive it. We would fill my passat with cartons of biscuits, park where there was human traffic and distribute for a couple of hours. People would ask, “Which company are you guys from?” They thought it was a marketing campaign for a new brand!
Little did we know that these random acts would mushroom into the Gaurapad Foundation Food Distribution program of today. For the past ten years, the Gaurapad Foundation has been supporting numerous projects, including human rights advocacy, the arts, constitutional reform, public health, anti-graft, youth empowerment – in summary, working around the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In collaboration with the State Ministry of Education, we also organize the annual Education Summit.
In terms of what I would like to do through our company: The establishment of Gaurapad Inc., was a game changer, in orders of magnitude. We had to go back to the drawing board to “propose” a sparkling new mission statement: Now, Let’s see how God will “dispose”!
